i am pete & i am 22 & i play in http://birthnames.bandcamp.com and http://manhands.bandcamp.com & i like funny stuff & i am from long island & i go to school in providence rhode island & i will be moving to boston soon
i think the best lyric i ever wrote was for a song i wrote when i was 18 for LIRS: “you bitch constantly / about a world that always shits on you / but when your backwards thinking prophecy has the nerve to wind up true / you fucking quit / you fucking fold / this cynical shit’s getting real fucking old” because there’s so many goddamn cursewords in there densely packed. 16.2% bad words. no but not actually also i probably wouldn’t use the word bitch like that if i wrote the song today, but i mean hey the first version of “there’s never a reason not to party” did that too so yeah.
the same LIRS song also started with the line “it’s ironic / the only ones who can accept a gift gracefully / don’t need a handout in the first place” which can be read in a more literal and economic way and get a meaning i’m totally not down with which i’ve always felt kind of funny about but the line was meant to be more about me being a social weirdo.
the first line i posted about isn’t actually my favorite but i think my actual favorite line i’ve ever written was in this song too: “why am i so uncomfortable / when i never leave my comfort zone” i’m still pretty proud of that one.
none of this matters because it’s LIRS but yeah for some reason i’m listening to the ep right now and thinking about this shit
